Let's Get Busy!

Ok, so I have been gone for days, weeks, months, I know   ...a long time!  Sorry!!  Actually I have been busy, but I am not ready to show you my new creations just yet.  I have spent the last month learning a new program...which I am very comfortable with now. So... soon I will be able to post some new wonderful designs I am working on.  Until then...my other new love is reading others' blogs....it's so addicting!!  Here's a little something from Shindig Parties TO GO and Nothing But Country .  I thought this whole party idea was so cute!!  Get inspired and get crafty...you have a few days left to help the kids make these for 'Dear Old Dad'!!

It's been a while....

Wow...it's been a while since I have done any blogging...sorry.  I actually have something on my plate that I am working on...coming soon.
So now that Spring has finally sprung, I am starting my garden for 2011.  Hoping for not quite as many tomatoes as last year....only enough to feed my family, not the entire block!!  So as you know I love container gardening.  Even my veggie garden is growing in a large container.  I was hoping for a Salad Table for Mothers Day, but since that didn't happen, I need to come up with another plan.  While searching the Internet I found a couple cute ideas for container flower garden I thought I would share with you.  Isn't this adorable?  I thought these buckets were on a clothesline but now I see it's actually a curtain rod hanging lower in the window...I LOVE IT!!

Get a load of this old bike...crazy cute!!  My husband would HATE it...but I love it.  If it were up to me I would dig up the entire back yard, add a mulch path and unusual flower beds, containers, and Koi ponds, garden gnomes, bird feeders and special lighting.  My dream garden.  Then way in the back I would add a little playhouse and some grass for Maggie...with her own private garden.  Ok, I will keep dreaming!!

Over the Rainbow Cake

OMG, this cake was soooo time consuming!!  Not hard at all, but it took forever...2 days!!  But it was honestly the best tasting cake I had ever made.  I wished I had a blue layer, but I should have checked my supplies better. Next time...wait!!  Bite my tongue ...there won't be a next time!!  I can't make this again.  Once is good.

The Marble Eggs were made by my daughter Jenn, her husband and their little one, Maggie.  So pretty, too pretty to eat!  We had a GREAT Easter.  Spring has sprung...but the rain; it can stop anytime now.

Happy Spring!

A Walk Down Memory Lane...

Does anyone remember this little guy?  Topo GG O was a little puppet on the Ed Sullivan Show.  I just loved him.  My Mom bought me the little doll and he became my everyday companion, until the day I bit off his nose.  I put him on my shelf and when I was ready, I let my Mom throw him away.  I loved my little Topo!!

The UV Coating on this project allows you to use a Dry Erase Maker.  I am getting this published/printed today and will have it back in a week or so.  So much fun.  Love this company!!

Family Template

Today is Tutorial Tuesday, but I decided Tuesday can also be TEMPLATE TUESDAY....So this is a template I have in my studio.  It actually was in the Heritage Makers Studio and I added a several more photos to make it a full 12x12 scrapbook page.  It's so adorable...I just love it.  It will be hung in my family room, another copy in a  12x12 Post Bound Scrapbook,....and it's the background on my IPAD!!!  I guess I can't get enough of my great family!  Templates are easy to use.  I can place this one in YOUR STUDIO, and you can DRAG and DROP your own photos right into it from your uploaded pictures in your own studio.  If you need more information on getting started with Heritage Makers...just drop me a quick note at margie@mystorybooklane.com .

Made by Me Monday

I wanted to share a few things that I had made for Made by Me Monday. The first is a tray I purchased at Michaels Craft Store for $10. and inserted a poster I had made in my Digital Heritage Makers Studio. We love this tray. If anyone eats in the living room, you must use the tray. It’s also great if someone is not feeling well and gets “special treatment from MOM”, to eat in bed. At the same time, I found a set of 4 black tray tables from Bed, Bath and Beyond and inserted posters in them as well. I really like these pieces and they look GREAT with my furniture. They were so easy to put together and I have received many nice comments on them. These would also be a GREAT gift idea too.

The Wedding

Here are just a few pictures of  Jack and Lisa's Wedding Celebration last June.  The day was just beautiful. It was nice celebrating with 150 of our family and friends.  The wedding service was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plainfield, IL and the reception was at Union Station in Joliet, IL. A great time was had by all. I can't believe in June they will be married for 1 year.

The Bridal Shower

Last June we celebrated our daughter Lisa's, Wedding Shower.  We had it in our home with 30 family and friends in attendance.  We really had a GREAT time!!  The shower was catered by My Chef Catering and The Craze in St. Charles, Illinois provided some wonderful cupcake favors and fabulous frosting shots!  Each of Lisa's Bridesmaids helped with different segments of the shower, and as her mom, I was in charge of the tablescapes & food display.  What a beautiful afternoon we had.  I can't believe, in June,  Jack and Lisa will celebrate their first anniversary.

Jenn's Baby Shower

This is my daughter Jennifer's Baby Shower last year. We had so much fun planning this over the summer.  My sister-in-law Terry, flew in from the NJ, while family and friends from our area attended. We missed the rest of our family in NJ, but they were with us in mind and spirit.  We did Skype in Jenn's in-laws from Maryland...that really was a lot of fun and Skyping was new to everyone!  It was nice that they were able to join the celebration.

Jenn's sisters, Lisa and Kate, and her Aunt Terry were a HUGE help in putting this shower together. So many nice gifts were given and I think everyone had a GREAT time. The games were crazy fun, very unique and memorable.  The beautiful balloon sculptures were made by my friend Holly...she's so creative!

To our surprise, little Margaret Jean was born the following week ...a little early, but PERFECT.  Our little Maggie is more fun than I had ever dreamed.   Wow, I am a GRANDMA and loving every minute!!
